Vertical Chinese & illustrated EPUB
Traditional Chinese, vertical text and heavily illustrated books are easy to misjudge from a format label alone. A reader that handles plain paragraphs can still lose the intended reading flow on a more carefully designed page.
THE PRACTICAL VALUE
Why this step deserves its own workflow
Inspect the actual book in the EPUB reading route and assess its layout before producing a fixed-page copy. The practical advantage is being able to read and review difficult pages in one workflow, then make a deliberate choice about export. Preserve the original as the reference when checking typography and ordering.

A PRACTICAL SEQUENCE
Start with the material you actually need.
Check representative material before deciding how much more to process.
- Open a representative chapter with vertical or mixed content.
- Inspect reading direction, fonts and image placement.
- If exporting, compare those same pages with the PDF.
EDITION & SCOPE
Know the scope before you commit.
Not all publisher styles or embedded fonts reproduce identically. This is supported-layout viewing, not a guarantee for every EPUB writing-mode combination.
Free has no trial expiry: common-format reading, ordinary PDF annotations and supported ordinary document/image-to-PDF export remain available. Recognition, specialist formats and advanced tools have their own allowances or tier requirements.
Compare Free, Standard and Pro →Images may retain historical layouts. Demonstration books, dictionaries and media are not bundled.
A USEFUL QUESTION
Will converting a complex book always preserve every detail?
No. Check difficult pages before committing to a large export, especially fonts, columns and image positioning.
CONTINUE THE WORKFLOW
A useful next step.
Keep reading, understanding and organising around the same material.

Complex EPUB to PDF
A reflowable book is comfortable on screen, but page numbers move when the display changes. Printing selected material or sharing a stable reference is harder when an EPUB contains illustrations, tables or vertical text.

EPUB reader
A book should not feel like a folder of web pages. Long chapters, illustrations and footnotes can interrupt your concentration when the reading controls and the reference tools live in different applications.

PDG scanned books
An older digital book may arrive as hundreds of numbered PDG pages rather than a single PDF. Opening every page in a separate image window makes a long reference book unnecessarily awkward to read.
