Read-aloud for supported text
Reading a long passage on screen can be tiring. Hearing supported text while following the original gives you another way to stay with a chapter and notice the flow of the language.
THE PRACTICAL VALUE
Why this step deserves its own workflow
Use read-aloud where the current reader exposes text for speech, with the available system voices and playback controls. It complements visual reading rather than replacing the source: stop at an unfamiliar phrase, look it up and return to the same material. This is useful for supported learning and reference passages.

A PRACTICAL SEQUENCE
Start with the material you actually need.
Check representative material before deciding how much more to process.
- Open supported text and start the available read-aloud control.
- Choose an installed voice and a comfortable rate.
- Pause to review a phrase, then continue following the text.
EDITION & SCOPE
Know the scope before you commit.
Voices and language quality depend on the operating system and installed resources. Image-only pages need usable text first. This is text-to-speech, not automatic speech transcription.
Free has no trial expiry: common-format reading, ordinary PDF annotations and supported ordinary document/image-to-PDF export remain available. Recognition, specialist formats and advanced tools have their own allowances or tier requirements.
Compare Free, Standard and Pro →Images may retain historical layouts. Demonstration books, dictionaries and media are not bundled.
A USEFUL QUESTION
Can it read every photograph as soon as I open it?
Not automatically. Recognise the relevant text first, then use an available text-reading workflow.
CONTINUE THE WORKFLOW
A useful next step.
Keep reading, understanding and organising around the same material.
OCR & phonetic symbols
Images & scanned-page OCR
A photographed handout or scanned page contains words you can see but cannot copy. Retyping the entire page wastes effort when only a paragraph or a few labels are needed.

Local dictionary lookup
A quick lookup becomes a distraction when it opens a browser, loses the sentence and gives definitions unrelated to the reference dictionaries you prefer. Technical and bilingual reading often needs a more deliberate choice of source.

Long-form reading notes
A highlighted sentence is easy to collect and easy to forget. Real study also needs your explanation, an illustration, a comparison table and enough space to connect them.
