Long-form reading notes
A highlighted sentence is easy to collect and easy to forget. Real study also needs your explanation, an illustration, a comparison table and enough space to connect them.
THE PRACTICAL VALUE
Why this step deserves its own workflow
PDF and EPUB reading notes can hold substantial rich content, including text, pictures and tables. Keep an argument and its source together, then export notes as Markdown for further work. The value is a reading record you can develop into a lesson, a research outline or a review document.

A PRACTICAL SEQUENCE
Start with the material you actually need.
Check representative material before deciding how much more to process.
- Create a note at the relevant place in a supported PDF or EPUB.
- Add your explanation and useful visual or tabular material.
- Export the notes as Markdown when assembling a larger piece of work.
EDITION & SCOPE
Know the scope before you commit.
Free allows 50 live notes with content across PDF/EPUB; deleting content-bearing notes frees places. This counts notes, not one note per sentence. Paid tiers remove that count limit; export rendering can differ.
Free has no trial expiry: common-format reading, ordinary PDF annotations and supported ordinary document/image-to-PDF export remain available. Recognition, specialist formats and advanced tools have their own allowances or tier requirements.
Compare Free, Standard and Pro →Images may retain historical layouts. Demonstration books, dictionaries and media are not bundled.
A USEFUL QUESTION
Does a long note with pictures consume several note slots?
The limit is the number of live notes containing content, not a paragraph-by-paragraph count.
CONTINUE THE WORKFLOW
A useful next step.
Keep reading, understanding and organising around the same material.
Books & reading
Find a passage in a long book
You remember a phrase but not its chapter. Repeatedly scrolling through a long book can cost more attention than the passage itself, especially when you return to it days after reading.

Vocabulary with context & export
A word list without the sentence that made the word matter is difficult to review. Rebuilding the same entries in a spreadsheet or flashcard application repeats work you already did while reading.

Local dictionary lookup
A quick lookup becomes a distraction when it opens a browser, loses the sentence and gives definitions unrelated to the reference dictionaries you prefer. Technical and bilingual reading often needs a more deliberate choice of source.
