Backup & recovery

Plan and test SovaSpace recovery with Trash, encrypted Google Drive objects, Windows Cold Backup and user-managed external copies.

Recovery layers

Recovery is not one feature. Trash helps reverse recent Entry deletion. Google Drive sync provides encrypted cloud copies. Windows Cold Backup creates a user-controlled recovery package. Each layer addresses different failures and none is a reason to rely on only one copy.

What a complete backup needs

Cold Backup is not automatically every large object.Complete disaster recovery requires the verified control package plus the required encrypted objects in Google Drive or in a user-managed external encrypted mirror, along with the credentials or recovery material needed to open them.
  1. Keep a recent, verified Cold Backup control package.
  2. Keep the referenced encrypted objects available in Drive or copy the encrypted object set to independent storage.
  3. Protect the recovery credential separately from the backup media.

Windows Cold Backup

The Cold Backup workflow is currently a Windows capability. The package is verified before commit and is designed to open read-only and offline so inspection does not modify the original. Follow the in-app workflow; do not manually edit package contents.

When storage is removable, disconnect it safely after verification and keep at least one copy away from the primary computer and Google account.

Account deletion

Account deletion removes SovaSpace-managed local, service and Drive data as described in the account deletion page. User-managed Cold Backups and protected local recovery folders are not automatically destroyed. Keeping such a copy is your decision and responsibility; deleting the account does not make a retained export unreadable by itself.

Test your plan

  • Create a backup after material changes.
  • Use the verification result, not only the presence of a file.
  • Open the package read-only in a safe offline test.
  • Confirm referenced encrypted objects are available.
  • Record the test date and repeat after major app or operating-system updates.
